Quartets

The MIX

The MIX were named the European Champion Quartet in 2013. Their lead is Jo Braham who is Cheshire Chord’s Musical director. On tenor is Andrea Day; and baritone Nancy Kelsall and bass Sandra Lea-Riley are both part of the Heartbeat Chorus.

The Mix became gold medallists at the Region 31 Sweet Adelines Convention in Gateshead in 2016 and competed at the Sweet Adelines International Convention in Las Vegas in October 2016!

Hannah and the Hurricanes

Hannah and the Hurricanes is a mixed quartet, made up of two couples. Hannah sings with Cheshire Chord Company, and Andrea, Tim and Duncan are also barbershoppers. They formed the quartet in the summer of 2014 and were very proud to become UK Mixed Quartet Champions that November and go on to win the title again in 2015 and 2017.

In 2016 they qualified to represent the UK at the World Championships for mixed quartets which is held every two years in Germany.  They were delighted to be awarded the silver medal with a score of 83.6% – one of the highest scores that any British quartet has ever achieved.

Hannah also sings with ladies quartet Cosmopolitan; Andrea with ladies European quartet champions The MIX; Tim with 2013 BABS champions The Emerald Guard; and Duncan with Fifth Element, and previously with Reckless who represented the UK at the International Barbershop Championships from 2014 - 2017. Tim also directs his own ladies Sweet Adelines chorus, Sheffield Harmony and the BABS Championship Chorus Hallmark of Harmony.

The name of the quartet pays homage to the original name for The Great British Barbershop Boys when they formed at a BABS Harmony college – “Tim Braham and the Hurricanes”.

Halo

Halo have been singing together since January 2014. Tenor Jane sings with Cheshire Chord Company, and the rest of the quartet are with other choruses.

All are relatively new to barbershop and their proudest moment to date was at the 2015 LABBS Convention in Bournemouth where they won the trophy for Most Improved Quartet and got to mic warm for the quartet final.

Kirsten sings bass and is extremely accident prone ! Luckily she is a nurse so can treat all her own injuries.

Nic sings baritone and is the baby of the bunch. She runs her own baking business so is terrible for our waistlines!

Debbie sings lead, jet setter and definitely our princess. Travels the world as cabin crew which means we have to rehearse around her. Apparently it’s all about the lead!

Jane sings tenor and is the lady of the lists, our most efficient and organised member. Book early to avoid disappointment though as she is a very busy socialite!
